How would kevlar armor stand up bows/arrows and swords?
There's just so much that makes a huge difference. Arrows and bolts are much heavier than small caliber bullets, and so while slower, they have a longer impulse, which defeats the properties of a bulletproof vest. An exposion at the nose would decrease the speed of the kinetic part of the penetrator. Is it easier to do so with something sharper?
As the name implies, they are made to stop sharp attacks but nothing else. Done a little research, turns out it could also be bi-metal jacket. Surely actually hitting the target and penetrating the armour is much more important? Fragmentation, if or when kevlar vest arrow penetration occurs, imparts much greater damage to human tissue than bullet dimensions and velocities would suggest. Kevlar and other aramid fiber meshes rely on being able to absorb the kinetic energy of a projectile by catching it like a soccer ball hitting a net.
